THE FITCHBURG HISTORICAL SOCIETY COLLECTS,

PRESERVES, INTERPRETS, & MAKES ACCESSIBLE

THE HISTORY OF FITCHBURG

.

THE FITCHBURG HISTORICAL SOCIETY IS ALIVE AND

WELL-IT'S A BEEHIVE OF ACTIVITY! PEOPLE WHO

COME INTO OUR HEADQUARTERS ARE IMPRESSED

WITH THE VITALITY OF THE PLACE-VOLUNTEERS

BUSILY GATHERING INFORMATION AND CATALOGING

ITEMS IN OUR COLLECTIONS, FAMILIES SEARCHING

FOR RECORDS OF THEIR ANCESTORS, AND VISITORS

FROM ALL OVER THE COUNTRY ARRIVING AT OUR

DOORS TO FIND OUT ABOUT THE HERITAGE OF THE CITY.

Students of all ages research a multitude of topics
about our community and visitors purchase special
books about Fitchburg in the museum gift shop.
The Historical Society is enjoying a revival.
People are excited about their heritage, and it's a pleasure to see that excitement when they come to our library and our programs to research and
revel in the past.

Examining newspapers of the 1860s gives our students and
teachers a betterperspective of the tumultuous Civil War years.
