VISION

The Fitchburg Historical Society will be recognized globally as the primary resource for information and artifacts about Fitchburg's past.

The Societys collections will focus on colonial life in Fitchburg, Fitchburg's role in social reform and all wars, pre-industrial Fitchburg, business and industries, churches, Fitchburg architecture, and Fitchburg's people to the current times.

The Historical Society archives and collections will be completely catalogued and accessible globally through the internet.

The Historical Society will be a recognized leader in educating diverse populations about Fitchburg's history through on-line, in-house, and outreach programs and exhibits.

A Genealogy Center will specialize in Fitchburg families.

The Historical Society facilities will be a welcoming and inviting place-attractive, functional, efficient, accessible, environmentally safe, and with adequate space for offices, exhibits, work areas, and storage. The building will be a nationally recognized historic landmark in the city, upholding a high standard for historic preservation.

The Historical Society will be a leader in historic preservation and the cultural and economic development of Fitchburg. The Historical Society will also support and energize efforts to make the most of the Citys illustrious historic industries-textiles, papermaking, and machine-making.

The Historical Society will have a strong and vibrant, diverse membership which supports the organization with their time and money, community-wide cooperation, and assistance so that the Society will have ample financial and human resources to accomplish its goals.
